Den pro včely a medobraní v Zoo Ostrava
Sobota 15. června bude v ostravské zoologické zahradě věnována včelám a včelaření. Uskuteční se zde tradiční medobraní a pro děti i dospělé budou připraveny rozmanité včelí aktivity, při nichž se dozvědí, k čemu se používá medomet, co je to voština, jak dlouho žije včelí dělnice a další zajímavosti. Vzhledem k alarmujícímu úbytku těchto významných opylovačů představí zoo i vlastní aktivity k ochraně včel, ale také čmeláků a dalších druhů hmyzu.
Včely v ohrožení
Včely patří mezi hospodářsky nejdůležitější živočichy ne díky medu, propolisu či dalším produktům, ale pro svou často nedoceněnou činnost opylovací. Podílejí se tak na zvýšení produkce zemědělských plodin a ovocných stromů, pomáhají udržet vysokou biodiverzitu krajiny. Zprávy o rapidním úbytku těchto živočichů, ale i dalších druhů hmyzu jsou v posledních letech alarmující.
Pomoc Zoo Ostrava nejen včelám
V areálu ostravské zoo i proto vzniklo v posledních letech několik opatření na podporu výskytu včel, čmeláků, motýlů a dalších zástupců bezobratlých. Návštěvníci tak mohou na řadě míst spatřit hmyzí hotely, budky pro čmeláky, kvetoucí louky apod. Většinou se jedná o poměrně jednoduchá opatření, která mohou inspirovat zájemce pro instalaci podobných příbytků na vlastní zahrádce, školní zahradě či v parku. Každý z nás tak může (měl by) přispět k ochraně okolního prostředí. V létě 2018 začala zoo i s chovem včel medonosných.
Sobota pro včely
Sobotní program bude probíhat od 10:30 do 16 hod. Začne na Včelí stezce (nedaleko expozice Na statku), kde budou připraveny nejrůznější včelí aktivity pro děti i dospělé. Ve spolupráci s místními včelaři se také budou moci zájemci přesvědčit, že ne všechny včely mají žihadlo, jak to chodí ve včelím úle a další zajímavosti o včelím společenstvu. Děti i jejich rodiče se také mohou těšit na velkou včelí soutěž, jejíž součástí budou pohybové aktivity, vyrábění i stanoviště s ukázkou včelařských potřeb. A kdo bude mít zájem, bude se moci vyfotit jako včelař.
V prostorách výukového centra (v blízkosti pavilonů Tanganika) budou moci zájemci zažít a sami si vyzkoušet stáčení medu a nahlédnout do včelího úlu. Ukázky vytáčení medu, povídání o životě tohoto společenského hmyzu a jeho nezastupitelném významu pro existenci lidstva na planetě Zemi proběhnou vždy v 11, ve 13 a v 15 hod. Zájemci budou mít možnost sladký produkt vlastnoručně nejen vytočit, ale samozřejmě také ochutnat. Chybět nebude ani prezentace dalších včelích produktů a výrobků z nich.
Na akci se dlouhodobě podílejí členové Včelařského spolku Moravy a Slezska a Kruhu přátel zoo.
